LIOEHC reviews existing occupational health programs, and assists with the design, implementation and evaluation of OSHA, EPA, and the state-mandated medical monitoring programs. We work directly with employers, unions and individuals to help establish health and safety committees, interpret MSDS sheets, identify workplace hazards, design interventions to reduce workplace hazards, and conduct OSHA and PESH mandated training and education programs.
LIOEHC also conducts educational programs targeted to the needs of special groups, such as health care workers, construction workers, carpenters etc. Examples of programs we have provided include:
- Investigations of indoor air quality in schools with recommendations for changes in the ventilation system.
- Early detection of Lyme disease among workers exposed to ticks.
- Workstation assessment, training and adjustment to prevent cumulative trauma disorders.
- Skin cancer screening among construction workers.
- Asbestos surveillance among electricians.
- Hazardous waste worker surveillance and monitoring.
- Prevention and diagnosis of occupational hearing loss
